For all who didn't like the character's dull personality-designs and the numerous logic-/plotholes in SAO:
This is the trapped in an MMORPG-Anime you were looking for.
If you don't mind an omnipresent use of Stereotypes.

This is my first review on an anime, I watched it in german Sub and I am a foreign speaker so please give me constructive advise.

The Story takes place shortly after an event called the Apocalypse which trapped all Players logged-in at the time of an Update called "The Novasphere Pioneers" in a Game called Elder Tale.

It is soon found out that the so called Adventurers (the Players) respawn if they die while the People of the Country (the NPCs) develop detailled personalities and suffer from permadeath.
The Protagonist Shiroe, an excellent Strategist and supportive Mage, who still has to get used to his - compared to RL - relatively tall body, observes the situation and stumbles upon some old friends: Akatsuki, a female Shinobi who likes to sink into the roleplay-element of the Game, and Naotsugu, a tank-class guy who is really into female underpants.

They form a group and soon they have to help some other friends of Shiroe by freeing a girl out of a city, which is controlled by a power-hungry moron.

The Concept of being trapped inside a Game is well presented and discussed.
I didn't find any logical mistakes, even though a lot is explained by "Because of Novasphere Pioneers".

I really liked the Music, especially the Elder Tale Theme. The Voiceacting is convincing and fitting.
The Art is above average most of the time but some scenes are so good, they sent shivers down my spine.

The Battles lacked a bit of action, but the great and sometimes funny dialogues made up for that.

I would recommend it to most of my friends and will watch it again.
