Let me first say that I never understood why anyone could be so obsessed with anime nor what was so great about it. THAT WAS BEFORE I WATCHED THIS ANIME. THIS ANIME TRANSFORMED ME FROM A HATER TO A WEEB!!!!

This story is so emotionally-powerful and very meaningful. There are definitely points where you just want to (and should) click "pause" and take a moment or two to think about the deeper meaning of what a character just said or what just happened. Though I kinda had to force my way through a few episodes towards the middle, I was well-rewarded at the end. We definitely learn Kousei's view of the transformational power of music and importance of risking to love people.

Obviously, the sound is great since the entire show is based around music. The art was done well too. I thought the character development was definitely apparent in Kousei throughout the show, and some in Kaori and Tsubaki as well. My only complaint about character is that Watari doesn't seem to have much development and served more for comedic role (which I didn't even think was necessary because other characters were funny as well). I thought some of the supporting characters were more interesting and deep than him.

This was the first anime I've ever watched, and to this day, I still get emotional just listening to the opening song. If you're looking for a slice-of-life anime—or just any anime at all—WATCH THIS RIGHT NOW.
