Many people view this anime differently. It was honestly tragic and chaotic. There was right and wrong everywhere. Lots of which people don't know how to judge until they dig below the surface. It looks to me like there was a message trying to conveyed, and at the end lots of parts seemed to be unanswered.

The plot was an interesting idea, but not well thought out. That situation could have been easily avoided if the Kirishikis truly thought killing people was wrong. With their funds, they could have made a clinic in a huge city and and took the blood donations without anyone else's knowledge. It doesn't take a mastermind nor hundreds of years to figure that out. If they did that, no one would have died nor turned into shikis. It all comes down to Sunako. She wanted a village full of people like her, causing the downfall. That makes me think Sunako wasn't really a good person. She caused all those deaths for her selfish reasons, not out of necessity like she insisted. So I wonder, what exactly was this anime trying to convey?

On a different note, many people surprisingly feel sympathy for Megumi. As for me, I cringed when I saw her death because it looked painful, but I didn't feel bad about her death. She killed many people and felt no remorse. Even though she was once a human and should sympathize, even though she was killing people she knew for a long time, she didn't care. She killed Tooru because Yuki liked him better than her. She barely even knew Yuki. All she knew about him was that he acted cool and had a pretty face. She killed Kaori and Akira's father because Yuki was hanging around them. I know they were going to kill him anyway, but she took the job and was happy to kill him. She hated everyone in the village because she thought they were 'unstylish'. She was a hateful, selfish person and would have acted the same way at any place she would have gone if she escaped. She was meant to be the villain and there is nothing wrong about not feeling bad about her death, which many will try to convince you otherwise.
