A terribly underrated anime which deserves a new season. I have been watching D.Gray Man for 3 years and I always re-watch it whenever I miss the characters so I can confidently say that I've watched 1030 episodes. Yes, I LOVE this anime and there are plenty of great reasons.

STORY
Honestly, I can compare this series to Naruto or One Piece or any other typical shounen anime since it does revolve around the main male lead who continues to grow stronger in the hopes to defeat the ultimate enemy...but this is only the tip of the iceberg.
The plot itself is graced with various genres that combines action with the darkness. Truthfully, it is a really dark anime with a dash of comedy here and there. But it is not always perky as the story takes you into the depths of grief and despair as the characters constantly are led with death, failure and many more gruesome moments but they slowly grow stronger (slowly...unlike a sudden boost of power that came from a super special training or something.)
Oh...important note; yes, there are fillers. But they don't even look/feel like filler episodes. The first time I watched this anime, I went through all 103 episodes without even knowing that there are actually filler episodes. It's amazing. Seriously.
The darkness of the story itself really attracted me from the beginning and I LOVE it.

ART
It does not have the most outstanding art but it is very constant. There is not a lot of change to the art and it is always nice to see a long-paced anime having a very concise art style that does not go out of place and in my personal opinion, gets better gradually as the series progresses. I am personally very driven with good art that elaborates the feel of the actual story. As I've said, the story itself is filled with darkness so the saturation is slightly decreased in several parts of the anime but it maintains the overall emotion.

SOUND
I love every single one of the OPs and I even have some of them in playlist to this day. As the OP usually exemplifies the anime, I believe they did a great job at choosing the songs as well as animating the sequences with it. They fit the anime perfectly and constantly have the same musical genre which I can appreciate.
The actual soundtrack is also very fitting of the story and emotions in which we are able to hear music with a lot of classical instruments used to match the setting of the anime. It does not overpower the scenes but instead, supports them very well.

CHARACTER
This is by far my most favourite part of this anime. I love almost every single one of its characters and definitely all of the main casts. They provide so much entertainment and depth to the story but what makes me enjoy them the most is how they all come together as one but have very distinct and almost different views and opinions throughout the entire anime.
Another major point about the characters is how the mangaka created them to be very fragile and almost...realistically human. You rarely see characters that truly beat up a powerful enemy without a single scratch. You constantly see them really struggling whenever they face these powerful foes which sometimes make me feel as if the enemies are unbeatable and invincible. They would always be injured physically or are hurt emotionally. In turn, they become relatable and I truly cherish every single one of them.

ENJOYMENT & OVERALL
I am totally confident to give this anime a whopping 10/10 because...I just truly enjoy it from start to finish. It gives me the comedic vibes of Naruto with a sinister setting of Kuroshitsuji. I am very disappointed that they simply cut off the anime at a very dynamic point of the manga since they are only beginning to take on the actual enemy and I am always hoping that they would reconsider to continue this anime once the manga is finished.
If you love a mix of dark and light, this anime is one worth to watch.
