THIS REVIEW CONTAINS A POTENTIAL SPOILER IN THE PENULTIMATE (second last) PARAGRAPH.

Zankyou no Terror is a good anime. It's not the best Anime in the world, but it doesn't need to be. It might not be full of dramatic and jaw opening scenes like Death Note or investigative action scenes like Psycho-Pass, but it has its own flavor of story telling that may or may not seem clichéd to you (depending on how much anime you have seen).

The story is about two friends who are more like brothers. Nine and Twelve are on a mission to reveal to the world the deep, dark secrets that a country's government can contain. While they might be branded as terrorists initially, it is clear to the viewers that they are much more than that.

When it comes to story, this anime starts off a little slow, and doesn't reveal much until further on. But all of this simply adds to the moment and allows us to form a relationship to the 2 protagonists similar to the one Lisa Mishima develops. This all pays off towards the end (more on that later).

The art style was pleasant and light on the eyes. Depending on your tastes you might find it a common design. Sounds were good too, though I have heard more catchy jingles.

The characters, while mysterious for the most part, become a little relatable as they start to interact with the various other characters in the anime. While they may not be the most memorable characters (Nine and Twelve fit the category of "Super-smart kids that are beyond the 'system'"), they certainly did have their own charms.

All in all, the overall score and enjoyment go hand in hand for this anime simply because the finale managed to turn what was a seemingly good anime into a very good anime (in my opinion, of course). The shock plot twist at the very end left a bitter taste in my mouth after what seemed liked an almost happy ending. It was at this moment that we could sympathize with all the other characters who had just now begun to truly understand Nine and Twelve. A plot twist like this, that rattles our core and causes us to shake our heads in disbelief, is what makes the story of Zankyou no Terror one to definitely watch if you have some spare time on your hands.

The way the plot never became too dull, coupled with the great finale and interesting story is what made this anime an enjoyable one. If you're thinking of checking this out, you won't be disappointed.
