The story takes place in Ikebukuro which is in Tokyo and surrounds the headless horseman who is searching for it's head. So far, so simple. The first episode migtht seem a bit boring but it's simply the calm before the storm and then events happen and it gets messy. It's not a bad thing though. It keeps it interesting and after a while everything comes together and makes sense again. I am not that much into comedy but here it just fits the whole thing so good, it makes the Anime even better.
As for the characters: each one will blow your mind in one way or another and most of the time you really can't judge a book by it's cover. All of them will go above and beyond your expectations. Lets just take Orihara Izaya as an example. At first glance he is that intelligent bishounen that doesn't seem strong at all but that first impression gets crushed almost instantly and gets exchanged with words like devious, scheming, daggers, fighter, insane and - in my case - fangirl screaming.
If you're male and think right now that it's just another Anime only meant to entertain crazy Yaoi fangirls: you're wrong. You get to see a lot of nice stuff yourself. Don't miss out on it! ;)
The art is very nice overall but there are some scenes where they just didn't care or made them especially bad on purpose or whatever. I don't care because it's usually not that obvious. Usually....
Don't have much to say about the sound. It's great. The only thing is that i dislike the 2nd opening but it's kinda to be expected after the amazing first one...
As for the enjoyment... Durarara!! only has the tags mystery, supernatural and action, but it contains so much more. You find an innocent love, lots of drama and comedy for example. The first episode might be a bit dull. The rest aren't. As soon as I saw the 2nd episode, I was hooked and just couldn't stop watching anymore. Each week I had to wait for an update was way too long and now, 5 years later, I once again find myself waiting just as impatient for the newest episodes of the latest season.
In short: Don't miss out on this mindblowing Anime. You'll probably next to never find something as crazy and good as this again!
