After the first season, I thought that this would just be another series designed to lure in people with a simple, lighthearted romance, with the no actual substance.... But boy was I wrong, and I am glad I was. The first season had some drama in it and gave the characters some development, but in this season shit really hit the fan, allowing the anime to develop the characters a lot more and showing the depth of the characters.

This series follows Hikki's path to establish something genuine with Yukino and Yui. It is quite the treat to see how Hikki develops from an cynical introvert into a lovable person capable of compassion and love. Hikki puts on a facade and tries to act as if he doesn't care. But we know that is not true due to the thoughts he has. He clearly wants to have real friendship but his awkwardness and pride leaves him unable to convey his desires. He claims his indifference of other people's thoughts, yet it clearly has an impact on him. He yearns for a change in his life, yet he perpetuates the same old same old, afraid of what could happen. He acts like he doesn't care for other people, yet he goes out of his way and damages his own reputation for the sake of helping others. To put it simply, Hikki is not honest with himself. From years of being alone, he has set up walls to his true personality, which is capable of loving others, helping others, and making others laugh. In this series, his hard shell will begin to crack when he realizes what he truly wants.
