This is one of the only anime I have watched that allowed the viewer to totally immerse themselves in the story. Even classics such as death note, FMA:Brotherhood, Cowboy Bebop, NGE, or even Trigun allowed me to become so immersed in a story.

The three main arcs of the story allow a wide range of characters, sides, and emotions to be shown.

The first ten episodes of the show are probably the most well constructed and interesting episodes ever constructed for an anime. This is probably the only anime couple in a sense that feels organic and not forced. The character development, motivation, and pacing is on point.

The 11-15 episodes allows groundwork to be built for the rest of the series. Although it allows a great stage to be set, there are some parts of the story that feel lacking in comparison to the first 10 episodes.

Episodes 16-20 reinforce the character development, tie up a lot of lose ends, and bring the story full circle.

The last arc allows the true ramifications of the previous actions to be set in effect, and allow a truly perfect yet bittersweet ending.

There are a lot of clever references to romeo and juliet in this work. I have not scene the play phantom in the opera, but it seems that it could draw from this work also.

Unfortunately, the series seems very short. Some events could have been more flushed out. Despite this, the series is one that really invests the audience and plays its cards at the right time.

It is a must watch for viewers of black lagoon, darker than black, or similar titles. It does not have a lot of fanservice, but it feels appropriate when it occurs. This grace uplifts the show.

Some of the weaker points are some inconsistent pacing, and a rather weak or cliche villain. The head of the organization also does not receive his proper development, but this is because he appears more as a figure than as a real person.
