The series I will admit falls flat in it's stories and at times with it's characters being slightly on the bland side but I would not call any of them boring. The animation, voice acting and music for the series is really where it shines for me, I found all the character art gorgeous the voice actors in many scenes especially for the boys did wonderful work and even gave me chills on a few occasions.
If you looking for a angsty vampire love story like and I hate to even mention Twilight but if that's what you going in expecting you are not going to get it, if your looking for romance your not really going to get that either. If however your looking for something different with an emotional pull I can highly recommend this series.
