Preliminary (16/24 eps)
The second season of SAO was once again presented with great graphics, sound effects, and catchy theme song +/ OSTs. The season was divided to 2 major plotlines (1-15) (16-). The first plot was very intriguing and did a really good job on structuring a unique and deep personality for most characters with interesting backstories. But for the second plot (starting from episode 16), the producers decided to put all the characters that appeared before in the past season/episodes together and the characters just seemed to have lost their unique personas. Not only that, the second plot also just completely lost the intensity for the need to achieve/save something important, which draws the audience into watching it in a roll. Instead of a intense and fun anime like it was presented in the past season and episodes, it has rendered into something like a MMORPG walkthrough with commentary. And as Kirito himself said from the first season, "There is nothing more boring than watching another person playing an MMORPG". If you're expecting an intense and intriguing series, this might not be the best choice for you.
