I would say the name 'Glasslip' definitely is the perfect name. What? No I don't mean that because the main character dreams of becoming a glass artisan! I mean that this anime is like glass: pretty but with nothing in it. This is the perfect description for an anime with gorgeous art and no story.
To this day I don't think this anime came to any conclusion at all. It was going SOMEWHERE at SOME POINT, but just like glass the plot broke and became worthless.
" But Kitty, there must have been SOMETHING in that anime, it's 13 episodes after all! "
Aha! But you see these 13 episodes were about small and useless conflicts. It's like: This guy was bothered by something and he spent the whole episode talking to 7 different him's inside his head before finally coming to the conclusion that he realized nothing anyway. There was definitely some hint of romance between characters, but as I mentioned before, NOTHING happened. There was no progress in ANYTHING.
I wouldn't say the characters were horrendous, but they weren't special either. Every episode was like watching someone in real life talking with his/her friends, just in anime form. Because nothing happened in this show there was obviously no character development. However, i must say I definitely enjoyed Jonathan. He knew what was up. (For those who haven't seen the show, Jonathan is a chicken who lives in the school courtyard)
Even in this horribly boring anime I found a few things that were enjoyable: the art and music. The art itself was very gorgeous, even if there was nothing special about the animation it was still pleasing to the eye. The sound gave off a relaxing mood, being classical music and all. Very calm and soothing, something you could listen to while drawing.
Now the thing is, did I enjoy it? Heck no! I was expecting more from this since the producers are known for anime's such as Hyouka, Angel Beats, Another and many more, so I had high hopes for this! Boy, was I disappointed. All I got for my excitement was 13 episodes of no story and random chickens. (God bless Jonathan)
