I didn't give it a perfect score on story just because a couple of episodes did seem a bit lazy. For example- their were a couple of battles at the main characters school where a lot of people died. However after the events, the school reopens a couple of weeks later and the students quickly mention their distraught and then move on. It just seemed like it was addressed very minimally and I had a hard time believing the setting could just go back to where it was.
I could overlook this largely though, because it is a story about aliens and one must suspend some sense of reality obviously. Also, it introduced me to one of my favorite characters of all time: MIGI. The bond I felt with this character was almost as strong as the bond I share with my own right hand in real life and that's saying something 😬.
Also I should note the soundtrack. I really enjoyed all of the music, especially the OST "Next to You." All of the music fit the scenes perfectly.
