In writing this review, i have played part of the visual novel before watching the anime, and so i will try my best to throw away any biases or pre-judgments that i may have.

The highlight points of the anime for me were definitely the Story, Character and Art.

Story:
The story can simply be divided into two sections: the preliminary episodes where the setting and characters are introduced to us, and the individual arcs where each heroine is explored more deeply in her own story.

Art:
Throughout the anime, i can't help but admire the beautiful art and animation of the characters. The vibrant colors and character models are done very well and is a good blend of maturity, elegance and cuteness.

Character:
In my opinion one of the strongest point of this anime are the characters, each one of them is unique in their own way and have their own quirks and interests. They can all be comedic at times but also serious which makes them more entertaining to watch. Most importantly, the way each character behaves and act are tightly linked with their respective story allowing us to become more attached and feel empathy for them.

Weaknesses:
One of the flaws of Grisaia no Kajitsu is the short length of the series, this means that each heroine are not given much time to develop as much as they can and their story moves at a pace that makes it difficult for viewers to follow and become attached to. As the focus are on the heroines, the male MC also does not appear to get as much development and at times seem to exist solely to become the aid to advance the heroines arcs.

Overall:
All in all, Grisaia no Kajitsu is a very enjoyable anime combining elements of comedy, drama, romance and to a certain degree, tragedy. Some of the topics are quite dark and psychological in nature and may not be for everyone. But i urge people to give this ago and if you like it, definitely watch the two sequels since they answer many of the questions or doubts that you may have.
