Mixed Feelings
I'm a psychology and neurobiology major who is a huge otaku. While I really wasn't looking for a dramatic anime like Golden Time, I decided "What the heck, why not?" The story-line is nice, it has good comedy and doesn't try too hard to make it work. The drama was pretty intense as well. However I really have serious qualms with the individuals' psyches, mainly that of the female characters. Firstly Linda: the anime hints WAY too many times that she intended to say "yes" to Banri's confession but never actually does a development which follows suit. In the end it literally shows that she did indeed say yes to the confession (this is assuming that the former Banri was not actually imagining this outcome in order to be put at rest). In contrast to this, according to Linda's own thoughts, she regrets that she did not come earlier to respond to his confession but DOES NOT actually ever explain her own answer. If she had, it is likely that if she said "yes" it merely is because of that regret, not actual love.
SECOND, Oka Chinami: Her character is literally EVERYWHERE! All paradoxes with no clear personality type. Honestly the reason the anime had her was to fill in the unexplained gaps and use her as a happy-go-lucky (and foolish) martyr while not even paying attention to what her personality should actually be.
Lastly Kaga Koko: WHAT THE HELL??? While the last 7 or so episodes showed her as a FUNCTIONING human being, everything before that showed her as a severely hypomaniacal, narcissistic, borderline personality, OCD, spoiled rich girl with a huge case of Dependent Personality Disorder. Honestly how can someone go 18 years and not be a candidate for psychotherapy and hospitalization??? Jeez.
Sorry for ranting so much but I couldn't just sit here quietly and accept that this anime had severe issues.
