Oh-hoho. Now this was one hell of anime. I ain't kidding, man.
Now before you go for this, I must clarify that this is an episodic anime which kind of follows the Endless eight formula of The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya without all the looped crap.
Optimistic freshman starts college and is quite happy to do so as he has high expectations of bagging a huge gathering of friends and a beautiful raven-haired maiden. But then, Freshboy meets Ozu. Yes, Ozu. That despicable deviant of the highest of devious caliber who claims that he and Freshboy are linked by the black thread of fate. And so, the misadventures of not accomplishing any noteworthy begin by the, each, end of which Freshboy goes, "What if...?"
And then the cycle repeats.

It's an interesting show. The most interesting about it, to me, is the artwork and the animation. It's just so basic. But, it packs one hell of a punch. It has impact. It grabs your attention and gradually pulls you in. The same goes for the story.
Every episode shows different 'What ifs?' with different characters and situations. Each episode softly clasps your hand and tries to reassure that you won't be bored. It's like they're whispering to you; showing you signs, pointing at things, lookie here and lookie there! They ask you to enjoy yourself and prepare for the conclusion. And the conclusion is absolutely worth it. By the end of the whole thing, you'll be clapping and might even giggle and mutter, "Well shit."

The characters of this show themselves are 'stories', you could say. You get to see them from so many different angles that instead of a sheet of paper containing a character's story, you are presented with a 3D sphere of many sheets glued together showing you a living and breathing (and whacky) human. You'll instantly love them. Especially that Ozu.

The OP by Asian Kung-Fu Generation was pretty catchy. Was stuck in my head for quite a while. The ED is also good. Reminds me of the ED of Space Dandy (X Dimension or something t was called).

Shit's 10/10, yo. DEFINITELY recommend.
