The Tale Of Princess Kaguya is a 2014 film from Studio Ghibli directed by Isao Takahata, based on the Japanese folk tale "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter". This was Takahata's last directorial work.

Story: 10/10
The space between real and unreal, earthly and heavenly.
The Tale of Princess Kaguya’ is a retelling of the oldest story in Japanese history, Taketori Monogatari(or The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter), which tells of a poor couple that discover a mystical girl in a forest and take it upon themselves to raise her as a princess. Takahata takes this narrative and runs with it, exploring the transient nature of life, the shallowness of wealth, and the absurdity of societal roles along the way.
You can't fight fate...yes..no one is able to resist Kaguya's return to the Moon.

Gorgeous
Princess Kaguya is like an old Japanese painting come to life.the visual style is evocative, moving from a light, luminous almost water-colour quality to charcoal-black shadows and raw, impressionistic scrawls.

Sound: 9/10
A believable sound !
The Tear Jerker ending is set to very happy festival music!

CHARACTERS:9/10
Good
Isao Takahata struggles to bring an emotionally distant character to life.
The film follows the folktale close enough, but adds more Character Development and scenes to flesh out the story more.
