All I wanted out of this anime was for Migi and Shinichi to become besties, and fight crime.
But instead I got meandering plot cul-de-sacs, characters tossing around idiot balls, lamp-female protagonists, flailing knife pool-noodle arm fights, and a very dated message about the ‘environment’.
Most frustrating is the entire pace of the show would screech to a halt at the beginning of almost every fight for a dialogue dump. It literally felt like a magical girl transformation scene before battle. Just tedious and most of the time it was completely unnecessary.
This had so much potential.
I really enjoyed the small moments of Migi and Shin trying to understand one another, and trying to adapt to their predicament and the danger they were in. Glasses Shin was a real adorkable sweetheart and Shin’s parents were also really cute-- so I knew this show had the ability to be good, and I would have liked to see more of those moments, but when things got ‘deep’ around the halfway mark it never recovered.
