Fullmetal Alchemist was my first "big" anime, and I loved it. I adored the characters, and the story was awesome. That said, I was very disappointed by the ending, and how many loose ends there were. I see a lot of reviews where people say FMA and FMA:Brotherhood are equal, or that FMA sucks and FMA:B is the best (and even vice versa)... in the end, it's all a matter of opinion. And this is mine: FMA is amazing, and worth watching, but if asked to choose, I prefer FMA:B, because it has a more complete story, a wonderful ending, and better development. Arakawa is a genius, and it stands to reason the person who created the characters and the story that draws you into the beginning of FMA would write the best version of it and give us a satisfying ending. BUT FMA is still very good, and should not be tossed aside. I will always remember it fondly as one of the first shows that truly sucked me into the anime world. ^_^
