Right in the kokoro.

Your Lie in April is about a child prodigy who lost his ability to play the piano when his mother passed away. He then met a free-spirited violinist who encouraged him to play again.

It's a 22 episode of Arima Kousei's journey into finding his music again.

Now, to be honest, this anime is very melodramatic, and if you're not into melodrama then you might be reluctant to watch this. However, I suggest you do because it is quite enjoyable to watch. Melodramatic as it is, Your Lie in April definitely has a very heart-warming story.

There weren't much depth to secondary characters, I mean his friends and rivals were there and they were not poorly written but the focus was more on Arima (he's the protagonist duh). You will slowly notice that he is changing throughout the series.

With that being said, the slow change in Arima felt like the pacing of the story dragged a little bit. For some reason, I felt that the 22 episodes can be compressed into 12-15 and it will be just as good. (I don't know. Maybe it's a personal preference but I don't really like slow paced stories)

Finally, the thing I loved the most about this anime, and this is also probably the reason why I liked the anime in general, the art and sound.

Don't even get me started on the art and animation. It was BREATH TAKING. Really. The character design, the back ground and the colors. It's a feast for the eyes! The animation was very fluid as well. The way the characters' fingers move when they play their instruments is just so fascinating to watch.

The sound and music was amazing as well.
I've seen shows where a character would comment, "Ahhh.. he's a little off on that note" or "...the way he plays is unpleasant to the ears". And I'd just be left wondering what the hell they were talking about because in my ears the music would be perfect.

I know nothing about music but even I, could tell if the character was playing horribly or if the character was kicking butt with a score sheet. It felt nice to actually be able to distinguish good music from bad music. It made me feel included if that makes sense. Furthermore, the quality was outstanding, I was able to clearly hear every note being played.
