Kill la Kill

Review By: John Fragglepuss Evans

Kill la Kill starts off fast and strong, taking very few breaks. The action is fairly constant, but the story builds throughout the season. There are serveral twists and turns along the way, and it all leads to a climactic finale.

The way they make it look like an old-school kung fu movie is really cool. They use the perfect fonts at the perfect times to describe many things throughout the season.

You might enjoy this if: You are in the mood for kung-fu style of action with a lot of bizarre moments.

You might not like it if: Skimpy outfits and a lot of skin makes you squeamish.

Note to the Viewer: There is reasoning behind Ryuuko’s uniform, trust me.

EXPANDED REVIEW:

Our anime group, Salt Lake City (SLC) Anime, reviewed Kill la Kill this month and here is what the group thought:

There was a strong liking or disliking for Kill la Kill, based on the person. Some group members found the anime to be exciting and unique. They found it to be bizarre in many ways and found it refreshing that it did not seem like an anime that had already been seen a hundred times already.

Some members did not like Kill la Kill because they found it distasteful or as something that did not fit their tastes, such as the style of humor that they enjoy.

The mother (nemesis of the story) was found to be one-dimensional and not a very convincing villian. There was a lot of characters, but time was put into the characters so that the audience grows an attachment to them. There’s character development for a lot of the characters, and they have unique personalities that are quite memorable.

Personally, I enjoyed Kill la Kill because of its bizarre nature and unique attributes to its storyline and humor. I would recommend it.
