While watching it, I was convinced that I would give it a 7 or 8, because I really liked and enjoyed watching it. I was intrigued by how the story and the characters had been built up and was looking forwart to seeing how they were going to develop - only to be utterly disappointed.
Shiki could have been a really good anime, really. It had lots of potential but, sadly, it hasn't been handled well enough.
This anime entertained me, got me all excited to the next episodes and I truly had hoped that it would also continue to doing so until the end.
Naturally, it had his faults and some things I didn't quite like, but every anime has this, but near the end of the anime the quality drastily drops - it's only my opinion though. I had the feeling that all the building ups has been put into waste because they really got me hyped up for seeing their development but in the end nothing has truly been properly fleshed out.
This has been the most crucial point for my rating.
For being honest, it wasn't the ending itself that didn't please me.
First of all, it didn't feel like a proper ending at all. It was anything but satsifying. I had the feeling that they just cut the rest of the story away and glued something else there. Perhaps it's also like that, I haven't read the manga yet.
