The character development is practically nonexistent, especially near the end, when new characters are introduced and the watcher merely has to accept that they are 'good' or 'bad', nothing else. The colours used are bland, and Tatsuya Shiba is essentially a one-man army dealing with the threats for an entire school. There's also those weird moments approaching incest with Miyuki, something I feel should have been left out.
However, for all its shortcomings, the battle scenes are glorious and exploring Tatsuya's psyche and lack of magical powers is in-depth. The animation style makes the uniforms seem sharp, a selling point for the anime with otherwise boring animation choices. Repetitive music, but used to great effect.
Overall good impression, but with a few things to work on for the next season.
