What makes us human?

Parasyte: The Maxim focuses on explaining the difference between humans and supernatural parasites which are invading the Earth and possessing human bodies as well as makes a statement on human emotions, morality, and the rules of the animal kingdom.

Parasyte is very complex show with many plot twists and emotional moments. The show is full of action, intellectual discussion, and touching moments between human characters and parasites alike. My only issue over the story is that by the end there were some plot points which were overlooked and not discussed. This could be seen as grounds for another season or an excuse to read the manga (note that I usually watch the anime before reading the manga because it prevents me from being overly critical of what is different between the two). The art is excellent, the soundtrack was extremely impressive, and there weren't very many characters that I was indifferent about, which is a big deal for me to connect to the characters. Shinichi in particular goes through interesting character growth and development, which aids in the overall feel of the show.

Overall, I rated the show an 8/10.
It was very good in almost every category, but not the best anime that I have ever seen.
Parasyte has an interesting plot, but at the same time is similar to a large number of anime that has been released recently. This could be seen as both good and bad; good because you can find other anime to watch in the same genre to type, but bad because it could seem unoriginal at the same time.
The characters are interesting and easy to get attached to, but overall there were a few plot points that were overlooked or brushed off that I would have preferred to have seen explored a little more.
