This has been the anime that has stood out the most
out of all the anime I've seen so far. If I had to use one word to describe it,
it would be "masterpiece". I tried watching it about a year before giving it
a second try. The first time I endured about the first 5 minutes of it and
dropped it. This is a great example of the first impressions not always
being the right thing to judge something over because in this case they
were very misleading.
Strong feelings, gore and nudity - these are the three key words to this
masterpiece. This anime tells a story so deep and unbelievable in just
13 episodes, that it puts most other anime to shame from that aspect.
Don't be discouraged by nudity - it's nothing like you'd imagined. I myself
barely even paid attention to it or better yet, noticed it. Somehow though,
I feel like it added something to this anime. I could not identify it nor put
it into words, but I felt it.
There was more gore in the first 10 minutes of the first episode, than
all the other 12 episodes put together I'd say. I feel like it helped it
get the feelings across or even make them stronger.
And oh yes, the feelings. I must admit I do not remember the last time
I shed a tear watching a movie or anime, but I did this time. I haven't
had an anime touch me so deeply as of yet.
Now to the stuff, that I did not like or was not "excellent".
The first thing that comes to mind is the marvellous song Lilium being
used too often. The song had a lot to do with the story so I think it should not have been used as often.
The character of Kohta acting almighty. I could parallel it with the "main" character of Attack on Titan.
The ending, yes and no. You can see and decide that part for yourself.
And yes and no to the mysteries left for me to analyze and solve after
the ending.
