Story 9: Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni had a very unique way of telling its story, though it is not for everyone. The short scenarios worked for me because it offered good stopping places after just a few episodes, unlike most shows where I usually have to stop when something interesting happens and I can't stop thinking about it (which is intentional I guess). The overall story was fantastic in my opinion and the ending was done very well.

Art 7: The art in Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni I thought was about average at first but the show unsettled me for some reason and it took me a while to find out why. This was due to the character designs, the way they looked was unsettling to me because of how small their necks were but it took me a while to notice. It fits the atmosphere of the show very well so it worked for me. Everything else in the show looked about average to me and nothing else really stood out.

Sound 6: Other than the opening song the sound didn't really stand out for me. I really enjoyed the opening song though.

Characters 7: The characters in Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni were nicely developed. Most of the characters were developed later in the show. I didn't like Keiichi though mainly because I couldn't relate to him but he wasn't a bad character.

Enjoyment 10: I had a lot of fun with this show. I liked the mystery part of the show and I liked the scenario aspect of it. I couldn't wait to watch the next episodes of this show, and the plot twists in Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni were amazing.

Overall 9: This is definitely a show worth checking out if you love horror/mystery anime or if you really want to see a show with a unique way of telling a story. However if gore and brutal scenes bother you then you might want to pass on this show.
