Imagine people with ESP/PK-Abilities suddenly appearing everywhere in this world. Most stories about people with extraordinary abilities are about these people surviving in a world against humans or fighting each other. But Shineskai Yori is different. In this world the "ability user" can't control it and the world as we know it is no more. 1000 years into the future. Humans have adapted to these changes. They try to life a normal life while trying to control said PK-Abilities.

I started watching Shinsekai Yori first when it aired but was not really interesed as the pace was just really slow, so I dropped it at episode 3 even though I was certainly somewhat hooked with the world that this story took place in~... BIG mistake. I picked it up again Christmas 2014 and was hooked again from the start till the end. It somehow just felt perfect. The slow pace at the beginning faded away and I was left with a story so good that I had to rewatch it afterwards.

Story: Even If the first few episodes had a slow pace, I promise it will be worth. After rewatching it I realized how important these episodes were in connection with... well everything. Not only did it show how the world has changed after 1000 years (e.g. the recaps that were shown at the start of some episodes), it also build up the really important connection between the watcher and the world in witch shinsekai yori took place. The only real "downfall" Shinsekai Yori had was... well the Yaoi scenes. I was really surprised when these showed up and knew that a lot of people would automatically downgrade this Anime. As I went on I realized that these scenes made sence but were not really necessary...

Character: Oh boy, the character development was just superb! As we follow the story of Saki Watanabe a girl who was one of the last ones of her age group to recieve her Cantus (the Pk-Abilitiy I talked about before) and her friends we start to slowly get to learn more and more about the world they live in. With each time-skip you can see they changes these characters go through and how important they are to the story itself. They all go through certain phases that, in my opinion, make 100% sense. As they slowly start to realize how "crooked" the system is that they life in and even try to survive while trying to escape it.

On a side note I would mention one of the probably best developed villains I have ever seen in Anime - Squealer. I -for sure- was not the only one who knew that something was wrong with how he acted near his so called "gods". But only as the story progressed I realized just how important he was for the story and how must of an impact he makes in it. I could go on just talking about how justified his actions really were.

Art: There were certain episodes that felt as if they have been done by a different studio or have been experimented with - yet! I felt like it was part of the whole. And I absolutely loved the art-style they used for this anime. Even if some people considered it done half assed I just can't imagine this anime being drawn any other way.

Sound: I love that ending, I seriously do. And I like the variety we get from the OST. They always somehow feel fitting BUT at the same time I don't feel like they are as special as some other OST's (Parasyte-the Maxim for example that just completely throws me off every time I hear it ... )

Enjoyment: I enjoyed Shinsekai Yori from the get-go . It was a masterpiece. The story and character development, the art, the music,... simply, the feelings I got from it were simply amazing!
