Ookami to Koushinryou(or Spice and Wolf), is one of the best romance animes out there, it has a nice rate here on MAL, and it deserves it. It has one of the best character i've ever seen (Holo) which made this anime really unique and fun to watch.

This review if for the both seasons.

Short review:

-Nice plot, original, simple, beautiful.
-Nice main characters. Especially Holo, great look, great development.
-Enjoyable soundtrack. It fits with the action, but there is nothing memorable here ..
-Reasonable art, the character detail is nice, although the background detail is weak.
-Overall: 8/10. Nice lovely romance story, with some interesting talks about economy. (i mean they really are interesting, even if you don´t understand anything about it you will get to it)

Now more detailed,

Story: 8/10. This is a fantasy anime, and in fact it has it. But only in our main character, Holo. She is a wolf that can be in human form if she wants to. She is some kind of god of wheat (at that time, wheat was really important for civilization). The story takes place at 600 DC, a time were being merchant was a comun job. The other main character, Lawrence Craft is one of them. When all of a sudden, Holo appears in front of him, they start a journey together, helping each other with the problems that they are going to face.

I found no plot holes, and all the things related to economy are really well explained so i belive even if you don´t understand much about it, don´t worry i didn´t understand either but this anime taught me a lot of things about it :)

As i said, the plot is really simple, nothing deep. Yet for being so simple it gets nice. At least i felt that way.

Art: 7/10. Well only the characters look nice, not the best art but at least nice design. They are well shaped, with bright colours that fits with the anime. The only bad problem may be the background, it looks pretty bad sometimes.

Sound: 8/10. Pretty much a normal sound, makes the romance moments intense, the rest is meh we can accept it well. The music fits better with the time when the action takes place. I mean the music has the same style as the music of that time. So it gives a nice enviroment. The openings are beautiful and in my opinion, they fit well with Holo's feelings and with the romance between our main characters.

Character: 9/10. We only have 2 characters with development. Holo takes the first place, while Lawrence gets behind, he does not have much development as Holo had but still it is a nice one.
Throughout the anime, we get to know how Holo feels about everything, i mean they explore pretty well this character which for being so cute and so funny gets super interesting to see her development. She is a mixed of emotions and feelings. Or she is fragile, or she is strong. Plus she is wise and teach a lot of things about the world to Lawrence, while he teaches things about humans as well to Holo(because she didn´t had much contact with humans). On top of that, the slow progressive romance between them both makes the anime pretty cute and also we can see a excelent development in their relationship, which is just lovely. Personaly, i loved that aspect.

Enjoyment: 9/10. We can divide this anime into mini arcs. Every arc takes place in one city, and there is always a problem to solve. And between those arcs or even in the middle, we have my favorite part, the development. It is just amazing the way that they talk to each other. We get to know everything about them both, and it is just amazing. I felt something that i've never had felt before, so this anime for me became memorable ! Their dialogues are at the same time intense, cute, dramatic, or simply all of that together.

Overall this show is a lovely show with a cute main character and i belive for who likes romance, this is one that you need to check out.
