Mixed Feelings
Overall
Fumoffu is trying to be what the FMP TV series should have been. Sadly, I think it fails on several points. The original quickly transformed from an interesting setting into meaningless mecha-action without even touching the most interesting part of the setting; the boy-meets-girl and the humour that the clash between two such different characters would instigate. This 13 episodes were a chance to set things right.

Animation
I think the animation is a good way above average (it's actually really great), and the characters very nicely designed. Umm, yeah, so far so good.

Sound
Everything is fine here. More than fine, actually, the opening theme is one of my absolut favourites and the ending theme is good too. And a thumb up for the "Bunta-kun running" sound effects.

Story
See, this is were Fumoffu fails miserably. Don't get me wrong, it is still an enjoyable and fun anime. But the story doesn't get anywhere, it's basically thirteen totally independent episodes with no coherency between tem at all. The series doesn't have any set goal to strive against. One such goal could have been a little löve-löve-romänce between the main characters (somtimes the attraction between them is showing, but it never takes off). If coherency isn't your cup of tea, though, there is many laughs to be had.

Character
Since the story doesn't move anywhere, the characters don't either. Sanosuke is as foreign as he ever was, and doesn't show any signs of changing. Chidori is a nice girl, but her warm heart tends to boil over a little bit too often (a la Narusegawa), and she doesn't develop a bit either in this series.

There are lots of side characters that could have gotten their part of the story examined a bit more, but as it stands, they mostly keep to the background and don't develop much.

Value
I watched this for the second time because I mistakenly thought I really liked it the first time. It is actually much better than the first FMP, but there has to be more to this setting than this!

Oh, you are telling me there is an OVA to check out? Cheers, I'm off!
