I will start by stating Barakamon is a great anime. I know the term is used very often these days but trust me when I say it has "a one of a kind" type of quality to it. I took up this show on a suggestion of a friend and it was a pure pleasure to watch it. The only downside is that it only lasted 12 episodes (so far). I will make my review spoiler free :)

The story aspect is very well thought out. The progression feels very natural and content. The comedy is a class on its own mostly due to its integration of a difference in dialect, a small girls who misunderstands a lot, and the various well written main and side characters. The setting of the plot gives the story a larger room to roam thus creating a great environment for a comedy slice of life show.

The art in my opinion is great. I gave it a 9/10 even though the amount of detail isn't very high such as Hyouka but the the art of the main character writing calligraphy is great to watch. The art styling of the characters are also pleasant to watch and felt very natural in its settings. Art was a very important aspect in a show like this and they pulled it off without a hitch.

For the sound I give it a 9/10 as well I know I seem to be rating it very high but if you do listen to the soundtrack individually you will see the amount of details put into each tune. I loved the opening sequence music as well as the opening sequence as a whole. The whole sound track feels very at home with the show and does not feel out of place. It blends well with the scenes and at most times it is very subtle but it creates the right atmosphere all the time.

Now for the best part about the show. The characters were an absolute delight to watch! I loved Naru (the little girl) her childlike curiosities, her mannerism, her comedic timing, her thoughtfulness, her ideals, and the innocence is such a joy to watch. The main character Handa (calligrapher) was also very well written. He has the most amount of character growth throughout the series (which is obvious since he is the main guy) but they don't rush his growth. They acknowledge that even with enlightenment there can be downfalls which I feel was a very human trait missing in many shows. His progression throughout the show was great to watch and his comedic essence was great! The side characters such as Miwa, Tama, and Hiroshi provided great laughs as well as brought out the best in the main character at times. Their drive and integration into the show provided many memorable moments.

The enjoyment throughout the entire series was very very good. Outstanding! The laughs that will cause you to catch your breath and stomachs to burst are aplenty. The understanding and bonds formed between all the characters are a pleasure to watch. The enlightenment in life lived was very raw, down to earth and relate-able.

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this series. It was a great treat to watch and because of my sheer enjoyment of it I decided to write a review regarding it. I hope it provides as much joy to you as it did to me.

This is my second review please do let me know how I can improve on my review writing. Thank you and enjoy! :)
