This is a once in a lifetime series. A show so monumentally bad you can't help but watch in wonder. Just about every story arc goes to levels of over-the-top usually reserved for soap operas, and on top of that it also has every harem cliche. You can tell it was based off a visual novel because of how much the show sucks the main character's dick. He's a cool badass who saves all the ladies from their demons and they all love him from the get-go. Usually I don't even have a problem with the harem trope, it saves a lot of time by skipping boring set-up and you can jump right into the characters, and it can work well when you have good enough characters to explore, but this series seems to thinks it's legitimately a good writing technique. In fact, even outside the harem trope, all the writing is extremely convenient. True, you'd have no idea what was going to happen, but why would the things that happen ever happen? I would love to list out every silly, ridiculous, over-the-top thing that happens but you'll have to take my word for it, it will blow your goddamn mind!
What baffles me most is that people seem to think this is a legitimately emotionally effective series. Apparently the VN is "life-changing" but I just can't possibly see that being accurate. I could really shit on this series all day but I can't at all say this wasn't the most fun I had this fall season. I was in stitches through every "serious" moment and every "joke" falls flat. It's actually somehow unique in it's abundance of cliches. I think that was 2 new seasons it promoted at the end? I'm ok with that.... I think.
