Ill try to make this review short and straight to the point.
The story is simple, yet it allows for amazing develop. It has a great balance between comedy and drama, i found myself laughing at one moment then crying the next. As for the characters, they are some of the most memorable characters in the anime. It is almost impossible not to relate or sympathize with the characters. They each have their own flaws, their own motives and a very realistic personality. In short the characters were three-dimensional. As for the art, it was calming and serene and fit the mood and atmosphere of the show perfectly. The OST was good, but sadly nothing stood out. Though the opening video is one of the most unique and creative opening I've ever seen. Overall, i didn't enjoy this show, i loved it-i fell heads over heels for it. Only a few animes left me begging for more, the characters and their interactions, truly unforgettable.

Now time to talk about why u may not like it, AT FIRST.
As stated previously the plot is simple, don't expect much. Some people may find it extremely boring at first, but bare with it, as the characters will soon draw u into the show and completely immerse you into their world. Finally, Hagu. Yes shes ludicrously short, but aren't there short people in the real world too, so why can't there be one in anime? Also, whats wrong with her being the main character's love interest. She's still a human, and a very cute and talented one. Her looks, first drew Takemoto in. She was unlike anything he'd ever seen and every human to some degree is interested in something new. Finally, her talent was revealed and bam Takemoto fell in love. Takemoto, as shown later in the show, is someone lost, unable to determine what to do in the future, but as for Hagu she already knows. It is because of Hagu's talent and preparedness, that caused Takemoto and Morita to become infatuated and enamored with her (morita's side story is told during the second season). She was Takemoto's inspiration and in Takemoto's eyes a person to look up to and thus Hagu was someone he had to hold close in his life. As for Hagu's behavior early in the show, simply put she's awkward around people. Luckily she begins to feel more comfortable around the rest of the characters and, and becomes a "normal" character.

In conclusion, Honey and clover is definitely a 10/10. with flaws too small to notice and a cast as memorable as your first anime.
