Spoiler free review.

Through the series I can’t help but say that the cast actuation don’t look genuine save for Cal’s and Lizzie’s. The puppetry topic in Phantom: Re is to blame for this. In other words, most of the cast doesn't feel human but like puppets controlled by the incarnation of either greed, lust or emptiness. However, this doesn't demerit the cast or the dialog which are in my opinion far better from average and as a whole even better; I grant you that there will be at least one character you love and one you hate, those in my case were Cal Devens and Scythe Master respectively.

The plot development is great, a fast paced one that successfully explores the world of full time assassins. Plot armor is a common thing working at its fullest during the first requiem at episode 10 and also at around episode 20 to the point that I simply couldn't understand what the hell was going to happen. This show made me FEEL that the world is a cruel and rotten world but also that human feelings can make this world extremely beautiful and enjoyable. Yet sometimes it didn't let me feel a thing. There are plenty of twists in the story, some of them being so drastic that I had a real hard time accepting them. The ending properly wraps and closes the story as it should but you should not expect it to be anything special or beautiful.

The art and animation are above average, this means you can see those departments put love in the project. The same goes for the music. Yet I would not go as far as saying it is perfect. In that regard, I would mainly complain about the second opening and ending which doesn't match at all the bitter-sweetness and tragedy carved in Phantom: Re.

TL:DR: Phantom: Re is a work of dark fantasy, tragic, bittersweet, mature, twisted and worth seeing.
