Reviews

I've been reading reviews for quite some time on this show now, and no one here on MAL seems to get the point of Glasslip. When the top reviews have scores like 2 or 3, either something is wrong or the show is just that bad, which is not the case here
One thing to remember is that this review is based on my opinions and perspectives of the show, you don't have to agree nor disagree, you have only to respect it

Story: -/10

I CAN'T rate the story of this show, simply because it does not matter, it can't be bad or good because telling a story is not the point of it. When it came out, many people thought "Hey, that's another boy meets girl romance right here" and it is only fair to think that, although the show DOES present this particular plotline, it is not to be thrived for, it is not to be expected or hoped. Glasslip show us "situations" and people dealing with them. When I first moved out of my parents house, I found myself deeply frustrated by how hard it could be to fit in any group, that's our set of "main" characters and what they hope to show. They show someone who just arrived in town, being rejected by every one of the group members but one girl, he finds something in common with her, he looks for her and he also asks himself "Why her?" Those are feelings that I can't describe better than the show did and although that was the only "situation" I was able to identify myself, after doing it, I was able to see the rest of the show such as listed:

- Recovery from an injury/illness
- "Loving" more than one people
- Incest (to some extent, I know they are not brother and sister but the guilt as well as the pressure is there)
- Bisexuality

Art and Sound: 10/10

Ok, judge me, I LOVED the music and the art, it was mainly the reason I watched it, those "printscreens" in glass and the violin solos, truly amazing, I felt really good most of the times watching it

Characters: 7/10

I can't say too much about them, cause there is really not much to talk about, as far as the melancholy Takeru express, I could very much relate, and I can't tell too much about the others for the reasons I listed in Story. Since the characters are not there to tell you a story but only to describe a situation, I can't see too much error on the characters themselves, as they are not supposed to be "alive". You are supposed to see yourself in that situation, so It would be unwise to make the characters too deep, instead, they are simple, with nothing standing and shinning

Enjoyment: 6/10

I did enjoy watching it once I realized it was not about a story, it ends how it starts and that is totally fine. It came, showed me situations, and left.

Overall: 7/10

If not for the amazing sound and artstyle, I would give this a 6. It certainly isn't your conventional romance anime or big tears drama, but it speaks to you in a certain way. It made me feel really good about me leaving my parents house, and now that I've came back and will be leaving again shortly (hopefully) I might even watch it again, to make sure, not to make as many mistakes as I did back then
