Honey and Clover, it's a shoujo title some might say but the truth is that this anime transcends labels and genres and becomes one of the most enjoyable animes I've ever had the pleasure to watch.

This story is often narrated by Takemoto, a young boy that is studying at an art school, however the primary focus of this series isn't just Takemoto, it's the whole group of people around him, and that makes Honey and Clover shine more than anything else.

Honey and Clover juggles between comedy and heart wrenching drama with some brushes of nostalgia and teenage angst, making a combination that will make you unable to be emotionless.

You wonder about the fate of the characters and feel with them, making oneself look at their own lives much more that they think. This isn't an anime about romance/drama, is mostly about life and growing up. A coming of age story if you will.

For individual aspects:

Story 10: Simple but deep, the story altough has a pretty basic formula gets complex when you analyze each and every character and the relationships with each other, allowing you to be surprised. This is where Honey and Clover shines.

Art: The art is great, clean animation and beautiful sceneries. Has a dream-like feel to it, as well as breath-taking when it comes to country-side Japan.

Sound: The insert songs by Spitz, Suneohair, and the Opening by Yuki bring out the emotion from scenes and moments, turning them into heartwrenching moments that will be burned into your head. The music in H&C is down-right amazing.

Characters: Another strong point, every character has it's own personality and doesn't fall to clichés. At the start one may classify some characters, but as the series progress so the characters. There isn't one unlovable character in this series.

Enjoyment: From smart and laugh out funny moments, to gut-wrenching drama, to heart warming love this series has it all.

Overall: 9/10 The only reason I don't give this anime a 10 is because of the pace. The anime has a good pace but sometimes it's broken with some slice-of-life episodes that make the pacing go awkward for a bit.
