Guilty Crown is Split into two seasons, the first being more light-hearted with dark moments and undertones; however the second season does a flip of this. The second season is very dark relative to the first and brings the anime to a solid finish. Although the anime isn't wildly high in the quality of the animation, more staying near the middle of the pack, it makes up for it in very detailed backgrounds, characters, and an interesting stylization to weapons ,clothing, fights, and other such elements that doesn't go to over the top more so it seems like it belongs in that world. One of the downsides to this anime is it's plot line can be hard to follow at times, but to those who have read manga and watched anime for a while have most likely grown accustomed to such a thing.

The real driving force of this anime is the characters. Personally whilst watching i found myself more interested in the characters than the some of the plot due to how well the characters were written. One thing that Guilty Crown has, that many anime lack is characters that feel genuinely human and relate able, this is especially prevalent in season two. This exceptional level of writing makes the viewer care about the characters, relish in their victory and feel sorrow in their loss and this effect is amplified by a fantastic OST made by Hiroyuki Sawano.

Although the first season is a bit of a slow burn, for anybody that enjoys seeing a good romance story and high artistic detail mixed with fantastic characters and a phenomenal soundtrack Guilty Crown is definitely worth watching.
