The term slice of life seems to be thrown around whenever there's a show that just takes place in a relaxed modern setting. However, I don't think such a genre is really Nichijou's place.
Sure, it's mostly centered around high school students doing normal things....sort of.

However, this would be best described as a somewhat surreal comedy. It's made me laugh at things I never thought I would. Hilarious, cute, relaxing, and maybe a little unnerving, it's more of a skit comedy with recurring characters.

That being said, I can imagine some unfortunate soul would not be able to find it funny. It's got some plain confusing parts that might just make you laugh only out of confusion, though that never happened with me. On top of being hilarious, this is one of the best shows to just relax and watch. Good vibes just keep flowing.

Despite the relaxed setting, the animation is always impressive and lively. I've never seen a spot of it that made me feel that it was a screw up, or some kind of fill in.

There's not really any overarching story that resolves itself, but I don't think that would really work with it. It's just not that kind of show. By the first episode, you'll know if it's your thing.
