because i read the light novel of this series, i may be biased. however, i do not agree with negative reviews i am reading on this series.
in my opinion, this series is a must seen for those who are tired of watching lame protagonist who tries to be funny, is a senti at the same time, and gets nakama power ups in every battle.
STORY
if you ask me only about light novel, i would rate the story 10/10. it is simply outstanding. author did a brilliant job in creating a world with a well thought out system of magic that is also complex, detailed, and remains consistent through out. you will have hard time finding holes in the system of magic. this, however, was achieved through tons and tons of description.
because anime can not incorporate all the description, for obvious reasons, story does not seem as brilliant as it was originally intended. it is still a lot better than many others, so i rate the story 9/10.
ART
art is pretty good, but not as good as this series deserves. the thing this series lacks in the art department is creativity, which could be seen in shingeki no kyojin and no game no life. so i would rate the art this series 8/10.
SOUND
again, not bad, but not as good as this series deserves. battles and highlight moments could have been more thrilling and exciting, if background music was better. the thing this series lacks is the goosebump moments. so i rate the sound of this series 8/10.
CHARACTER
most of the reviews i read seem to not be a fan of overpowered protagonist. well, i guess they are still inclined to traditional shounen series.
like many have pointed out, protagonist is OP. however, i do not find it a negative point of the series because i needed a change from nakama power ups or training before every battle to acquire new abilities.
only thing i am not a fan of in this series is the hint of incest. still, i rate characters 9/10.

i would rate this series 8 only due to art and sound. if music and art style were better, like shingeki no kyojin and no game no life, i would have rated it 9/10, if not more.
