I often hear people saying they found the main character of a certain anime "unlikeable" - Kirito from SAO for example who many people call OP. Although I agree with this I have always overlooked these things and have managed to just enjoy the characters. That changed with School Days.
I'm not going to be giving this anime a standard review where I say each section and how good it is because honestly? I really can't. The whole thing was just uncomfortable for me and I never have found myself before watching an anime that brings these kind of raw feeling uncomfortably close to the surface.

The characters in particular were horrible, not in the sense they were boring but I felt physical rage at them while watching this and even found myself grinding my teeth staring at the screen hoping Makotu (the main) get's suddenly and brutally decapitated by some falling satellite.
Even then the other leads don't help - they're either pathetic or disgusting and in the end I found myself hating pretty much every character in this show, and even the ones I didn't hate I wished to shout at.

Summing up, the characters were the whole reason I hated this anime so much (and partly the overly happy opening credits which I suppose juxtaposed the serious tone of the anime - just got annoying near the end of the series).
So yeah, if you want to see what everyone compares harems to, see what all the fuss is about then by all means watch School Days. But there is no pleasure from this watching this anime and in the end you will be left worse then when you started - and probably wondering why you watching this horrible thing in the beginning despite probably reading everywhere that you shouldn't.
