The story is not cut and dry - it's random and not really about a plot as much as it is about well, randomness. There are tons of interludes and filler parts that will confuse you but are creative and enjoyable. Sometimes they're scary just because they're invasive to what your mind predicts.
TONS of culture references. They can be funny even if you don't get them because they're presented in such an odd way.
It's almost a parody anime because you can tell it knows it's random and it knows it's poking fun.
I really loved the art - it was truly original. At times it was beautiful, at times just interesting, and even disturbing but in a good way. I think some may be lost at the unpredictability of it but if it interests you at all, you won't be disappointed.
The people in charge of the anime sure love to have cameos. Prepare for that, as it is a very common occurrence.
The music was also interesting. It's funny in an awkward way, like "What is this?" and it's great because it fits the whole series.
The characters are amazing. Itoshiki-sensei is very true to himself and so hilariously tragic, it's easy to like him but it can be hard to decide whether or not you actually feel sorry for him. The issues the characters face are relatable but also outrageous - exaggerated, if you will. The flaws of the characters can be shocking but are also not too foreign.
Simply put, it makes one realize that they themselves are also a creep of some sort.
There's lots of fanservice - male-targeted. This bothered me a little bit, but it doesn't take away from the story.
Overall, I'd describe it as a satirical crackfest that's one of a kind and truly enjoyable for those open to it. I recommend it to almost anyone.
