No Game No Life, the controversial anime of Spring 2014. Some call it a masterpiece, and rate it a 10/10. Others rate it 6 and claim that it's overrated. So which really is it? Well, in order to decide that, you'll have to watch the anime yourself, but here's my view on the anime. It's neither a masterpiece, nor bad at all. In fact, it's rather an enjoyable anime that I believe everyone should give a try. I'd rate it around an 8/10, which surprisingly only a few people seem to rate it.

First off, the plot was the part that I enjoyed about this anime. Of course, recently there have been a plethora of anime that's concept is being trapped in a virtual game/world but No Game No Life's was quite different. But a game where, there's no actual fighting and dying, it's just a world where everything is decided upon by... a game. I mean think about it, a world where everything, including nation's territories, the king of a country, all the money, anything at all was decided on by playing one simple game. Whether it's chess, poker, or anything else, the game's stakes are pretty insane. What the main characters do to win each game is something that's interesting to watch out for. Each nation is considered a piece of a chess board (16 pieces total). The nation that unites all the other nations (by defeating them in games) and collects all the chess pieces on the board gets the opportunity to challenge God, Te, who united all the Gods.

Our main characters, the two genius NEET siblings, Sora and Shiro aka "Blank" views our real world as just another pathetic game (they have a point). Everyday life for kids just repeats itself, and in society not everybody accepts you for who you are. One day they get invited to a chess match by a stranger (Tet), and after a good amount of time (1 min) they defeat him and are suddenly sent into the world where everything is decided by games. Here, Sora and Shiro play games and try to become the King/Queen of the human race, and end up setting their goal as uniting all the nations/races together and defeating God, and becoming perhaps God theirselves. Sora is such a funny teenager. He seems to be quite the pervert (since he is still a virgin that wants to lose his virginity) and goofer despite him being a genious gamer. That added a less serious, more enjoyable aspect to the anime. Shiro on the other hand kind of annoyed me, because she was a 11 year old girl, whose panties were shown all over the anime; very disturbing. The other characters were interesting, but very confusing and annoying at the same time. I mean Steph is dumb and annoying one episode, then the next episode is smart and kind, but then switches around all the time. PICK ONE PERSONALITY.

The opening and ending for NGNL are both one of my favorites respectively. Truly amazing music in the anime, I'd definitely tell you to look out for the great soundtrack, and Sora's voice fit him perfectly, as did every single other character. The art was decent. That's all I'll mention about the art.

My enjoyment for this anime was just above average I'd say. I had expected a lot more considering it's recent hype, and high ratings, but nonetheless it was an enjoyable experience that I'd recommend to everyone, all ages.
