Was the story all that great? No. The plot of most every episode is the exact same thing, just with different words. However, what allowed the "story" to progress was the character development and interaction. I felt the characters grew tremendously through the episodes and by the time I had finished watching, I had become very attached to each of them. Although the comedy can be sort of crass, I enjoyed it and laughed many times. Lastly, I gave this anime a 10 on sound, mainly because some of the musical pieces that were incorporated became some of my all time favorite songs, and I still listen to them consistently.
If you can't get past a mediocre story and can let go the "manga is better" mindset, I think you can really enjoy this anime.
