This series works through a fairly dramatic story line. It stays focused on the main characters, so you get to understand some of the dynamics of each person and between the characters. There is somewhat of a "train wreck" ending, but not completely. Some loose ends were left perhaps in the event of a second season, but that seems unlikely at this point.
The problem with series, and the main reason why I only gave it 4 stars, is that many of the main dramatic events in were so unbelievable that the story began to lose its credulity. I think its OK to have one or two shockers in a story line, but this story has them by the barrel-ful and at some point it just becomes exhausting. Still, it was an enjoyable, bittersweet story, but it will probably leave you unsatisfied at the end.
