I watched the first episode of Kill la Kill and I was completely thrown off thinking of it as another generic ecchi ( I actually enjoy watching some here and there) but it seemed to take itself too seriously in the first episode and I felt it was trying too hard. I actually left it for a month or two then I forced myself to watch it and I realized I had totally jumped the gun and that the skin being shown was not there only for gratification purposes, but as absurd as it may sound it was an integral part of the story that made a lot of fashion sense.(Sorry I could not resist!)

In terms of story it was extremely enjoyable and solid in that it was an action anime based on clothes and it stayed true to the source material.(I assure you the puns are not being done on purpose) Everything has an explanation and connects very well and complements other story elements, the mystery that is left is such that it leaves you pleasantly wondering instead of trying to tear your hair out and yet the plot is pretty fast paced the action will sweep you up and throw you all over the place, and for all that you will like it.

In terms of characters this anime provided me with a plethora of enjoyable characters that added so much to my overall enjoyment. The characters have principles and stick to them, but are willing to bend and twist to accommodate differing situations, thus giving it a very human feel, fueling how much I got caught up in the story and how much I related to the characters, each and every one of them instead of a select few. I have my favorites but I could understand where the other characters were coming from.

The one aspect that left me a bit jarred is the artwork, especially on action scenes, which changed perspective so many times and went so fast that I had to pause or rewind so frequently that I felt that it could have been done better. The artwork itself is not the problem, its just that on action scenes or where there is a lot of movement it may leave you slightly confused. Other than that I had no other problems.

Would I recommend Kill la Kill to anyone? Of course I would, it is one surprisingly original and brings together two aspects that you would not normally see being melded into one, that is fashion and action. Watch Kill la Kill if you are the type who wants to explore and find something that gives you emotion, action, brains and all in one Kill la Kill is most definitely for you.
