The first episode was charming. Although different from other animes I'm used to, I liked the art. (Okee, the art of animes like Fairy Tail or HxH isnt breathtaking either..) The main character came across as mysterious and a powerful underdog character that would grow throughout the storyline. At least, this is what I expected.
What felt a little odd to me was the brother-sister romance the writers wanted to picture. I couldn't really relate to their relationship as it seemed more and more romantic rather than sibling love. As an older brother myself I felt disgusted seeing this. But hey, maybe it's an cultural difference..
As soon as the arc really started off, the excitement started to grow.There were more duels between student and the spotlight towards the main character began to lighten up as well. This arc was fun to see.
However, as soon as this arc ended my interest in this anime ended as well. I couldn't hold onto the excitement of the following storyline and I couldn't relate to the main character or any other character for that matters. It felt that I wasn't spending my time optimally while watching this anime.
An anime that catches me is mainly due to plottwists or cliffhangers, whether I can relate to characters, or its just plain fun supernatural action. It looked promising, but unfortunately to me the anime lacked in all of those aspects.
