What really engulfs me is how deeply this anime touches into the human psyche. Not only does it connect karma and mental effects to the subconscious mind, but it also does so with a strikingly realistic example.
As some of the main characters show great intelligence, compassion, sincerity and wisdom, the story spans over different periods of the main characters' lives.
As the friends adventure together growing closer, the creative and highly intelligent dialogue touches many topics from a futuristic outlook. Those topics are -- among others -- the history of the future of society, scientific theories of phenomena of the future and, as already mentioned, the depths of the human psyche.
Occasionally there are dreamlike scenery and dreams, both deeply symbolic to the story, as well as realistic as to what could be expected if one would experience what happens in the story.
