Mixed Feelings
I'm note particularly into the whole moe thing and this was actually my first moe.

Impression:
Starting out, this anime seemed a little awkward how our main protagonist Tomoya Okazaki meets our leading female protagonist Nagisa Furukawa, I don't know how but it felt pretty awkward at first but I guess they had to meet somehow and the anime revolves around their relationship will Tomoya meets other female characters and helps them with their problems.
This wasn't particularly a bad show, it had decant character development from Tomoya as we get to further get to know him and understand him. This show also had it's fair share of good moments with some that did feel a little dry but the Characters did manage to brighten things up and keep things rolling, however this anime isn't quite complete without after story, mainly because there are these sequences that take place in a fantasy word between a girl and a robot made out of junk which is beautifully animated, though the show does do it's best to somewhat make sense out of it and you could just leave it at there but this does continue into after story.
A major complaint I had was that there was some filler or the show didn't use some of it's time very well so there are some episodes that may seem completely pointless but that was my only real complaint.
sadly I didn't really cry like people said I would which was kind of a disappointment but I might have been expecting some real tear jerking moments when I heard this anime will make me cry.

Characters:
Tomoya was like your typical harem protagonist and was a little dull but I under stood why they made him that way so the audience could sort of insert themselves into the story but also Tomoya was just a normal guy and sometimes served as a rational voice of reason but was bit of a plot device at times, however he did have his own issues which made him interesting.
Nagisa is a shy girl but with awesome parents and to me wasn't all that interesting, however when the time came she was able to hold things down when needed.
The first character I want to note is probably the one everyone else remembers from this anime...
Fuko, who is a cute little green haired girl with a lot of energy and an obsession with starfish. This character like many of the other character in this show served a more comical purpose and Fuko defiantly delivers, though after her story arc I was a little confused but you might see what I mean.
Then there is Akio Furakawa AKA Nagisa's father, I could also mention her mother as well as these two go great together but Akio was something else. Akio is your typical protective father with a decent sense of humor and he kinda grew on me after a wile.
Lastly there is Tomoyo Sakagami, the badass chick with the long hair.
Enough said.

Sub vs. Dub
A lot of people told me to watch this subbed first and so I did, and then I watched it dubbed.
My ideas were that in terms of script they were roughly the same, the subtitles don't usually get it right any way so I pretty much got the same vibe from both though I don't feel particularly strong about either one, but there were some characters I like better in english and some I liked better in Japanese.
Like Fuko was more of a spontaneous character and she was a bit more energetic in english as she was voiced by Hilary Hag who later voiced yui in angel beats.
The other character I like in english was Nagisa's father who was voiced by Andrew Love who usually pulls off the badass protective father character very well and I seemed to notice him more in the english version.
In japanese I liked Tomoyo (the badass chick) because she sounded more like a badass in japanese however the same would go for english so I kinda liked her in both I guess.
one character I didn't like in both was Tomoya's friend Youhei which sounded annoying in both versions. As for the rest, I could really care less which language it's in.

Final verdict:
I would have to give this anime a 6
mainly because it wasn't particularly the worst anime but it felt like a typical store that might have been done before but this anime does have some good moments but I would suggest taking your time with this one and there was some filler.
