Preliminary (11/12 eps)
This will be one of my first review's on an Anime.

NGNL, No Game No Life.

I started to watch the show due to it being one of the "hotter" anime's this season. I won't go into the summary for it, this can be found on it's main page.

What I do however wanted to share is my opinion on NGNL.

No Game No Life from the outside, looks like it's nothing that new. It shares a lot of different genres, different types of pieces of stories and so on, thus making it nothing extremely new. However what it does, and should do is entertain, and I consider NGNL to be a very entertaining anime this season.

So let's just start rating:
Story - 7/10
The story is nothing that new, ok, the part of it being NEET's might have a bit of a "new" feeling to it, as it hasn't been used that much in different anime, however, it is not. Furthermore, the story pretty much entails: Boy & Girl go into new world and well win. Absolutely nothing new, however, what it does do, is giving us a different type of this. Usually the good guys / bad guys or whichever, ends up losing, or giving up at least once. A new part of "being overpowered" by using your head, instead of you fists, robotics, weapons and or summonings.
The 7/10 for the story could actually drop to 6, however, even though the story isn't that original, I do enjoy it.

Art - 7/10
You can pretty much tell, that NGNL has a high or higher production value then many other anime. Art is in my opinion hard to define, I can like something, and someone else might consider it to be horrible, or vice-versa. I do however like the art, even though it is nothing that special. The colorful world however, makes it rather unique. There seems to be little to no darkness, no grim settings, everything is bright and colorful as it should be in a world where there is no war. The character designs are done well, especially the parts where someone has to strike some fear into a person, but other then that, once again, nothing that special.

Sound - 5/10
To be honest, to me, nothing popped out. I usually skip the OP's and the EP's, since I want to watch the anime itself. Giving it a 5/10 has to do with the fact that the OP is actually rather pleasant, and it does fit the anime, nice intro & then a bit more power, other then that, I hardly hear much "music" in the anime itself that might add some emphasis on the situations.

Character - 7/10
Both our main characters aren't essentially unique, they don't have anything new that I have never seen in an anime, however, I like them. Even though the relationship between Shiro & Sora seems well, a bit disturbing at some moments.
- Sora, the big brother, emphasis the bored yet smart guy. His design just works. He doesn't have excessive muscle's. He doesn't appear to be "powerful" in any kind of way which makes it work for NGNL. Even though he seems to be a pervert...
- Shiro, the little sister, shows us the cute side. To be honest, she is just pure cuteness, with of course the sudden "dark side".
- Dora / Steph is like many other anime girls, annoying, big breasts etc. Her design doesn't add anything. She's nothing more then your usual "siding" main character. I'd say that both Shiro & Sora outshine her in every way, making her irrelevant being a "main" character. She could have been supporting & thus have less screen time.

Enjoyment - 9/10
I'm sorry I have to say it, even though the story isn't that incredible, and the sound isn't or even the art might have it's flaws, I do enjoy every minute of NGNL. It has interesting developments in how they pursue a certain "win". I enjoy the colorful world, the sometimes lame, yet timed & funny jokes. Its an anime that you shouldn't watch when your in a serious mood. This anime doesn't really takes itself very serious, so why should we?

Overall - 7/10
I have to be fair, even though I would say that due to me enjoying this anime the overall score doesn't really seem to be off effect. I have seen many anime shows. Some good, some bad, some with poor design / art choices. Good stories. Ive seen countless. Yet for once, NGNL delivers a fun and entertaining anime. Which is pretty much all an anime should do.
