I mainly wish to write a small review, there's tons I want to say about Kill la Kill, but ill stay small for the time being. Kill la kill is what got me into anime, I mainly found most animes too 'dumb' to hold my attention, but then the over the top production that is kill la kill caught my attention.
The story is very interesting, however leaves only a little to be desired, expect a path somewhat similar to Gurren lagann, there are many points in which all hope (and all way) seems lost, but is then found. With some well placed and paced plot twists, theres plenty to keep you on the edge of your seat when watching.
The animation is great. The art style seems a little low quality at first, but it grows into kill la kill's own style, separate even from gurren lagann. It fits perfectly with what everyone uses to describe the show: OVER THE TOP. The animation in the expressions, fight scenes, and of course the clothing is well detailed and looks visually pleasing at all times.
The sounds are also top notch, every bit of music is excellent, and the voice actors PERFECT. I cannot express how well every single va performed throughout the whole show, not only did they help express each character even more so, they gave life to the characters to make them feel very fresh and expressive.
Which leads right into the character designs. It really is hard to not fall in love with every main character. Sure there are some ugly club leaders that appear excessively dorky, but that's the point of them in the first place. I feel this grading can be best expressed in the two best characters (not my favorite) of the show: Satsuki and Mako. Every show of this caliber has to have some comedic relief, and Mako is the best character comedic relief characters have ever seen, she not only quickly grabs your heart in the cute department, she proceeds to be one of the most important characters through sheer resolve and remarkable character development. Satsuki also undergoes remarkable character development and eventually easily becomes a badass with infinite resolve. Along with these characters I feel I should mention one of the main enemies: Nui, no better enemy character can make you hate them as much as Nui does very swiftly. Re watching the series makes me love her character for how much she can be the perfect annoying b*tch.
Enjoyment? I think it is obvious I enjoyed the show immensely judging by how I wanted to write a small review and ended up writing all this. By no means do I think this is a show everyone will love; thats just about impossible to achieve, but I do believe this is one of the greatest animes yet along side Trigger's previous release of Gurren Lagann.
