An absurdly obnoxious series full of fun, awkwardness, and a surprisingly interesting and captivating story with a cast of characters that you just can't help but to love. Something the anime industry has been in dire need of as of late. That to me is what Kill La Kill represents. It was one of the most fun series I had the pleasure of watching in a long time. Here are my thoughts in a spoiler free review.

Story
At first glance Kill La Kill starts off with a typical revenge story, and while this theme may be overused, Kill La Kill keeps you interested with its IN YOUR FACE world and characters. Every episode is jam packed to the brim with both action and comedy, oh and I cant forget of course, nudity. This is more than enough to keep one's attention however, after around the halfway point, (at which time most viewers will have developed a feel for the whacky world) the story takes a very surprising and unexpected twist. This leads the series down the right path. While a slight more serious tone is added, there is still no absence of the comedy that was present in the first half. A few more twists and turns and a couple of massive fights later, we then end up with a totally epic ending that embodies what the show is all about.

Art/Animation
An explosion of color, all up in your face, is how I see Kill La Kill's animation style. Bright colors and smooth transitions are used all throughout. It is a very playful style that is only fitting for this type of series. The action scenes are wonderfully animated and you don't have to strain your eyes to see just what the hell is going on. This was very surprising to me, considering the amount of ultra bright colors and textures used. Characters are drawn out very well, and they embody the playful style of the art. One complaint I do have is that the transformation scene was WAY overused. Seeing it happen about 3-5 times an episode is way too much.

Sound
One of the better and most fitting soundtracks I have heard for an anime. Sounds range from fast paced rock and electro to traditional band concertos and even Mozart! The music always adds that little extra kick throughout the show to make it just that more epic. I found that some of the songs did feel a little played out by the end but it was not too big of a deal.

Character
The characters are what make this show what it is. I wont talk about each individually. However there is a wide spectrum ranging from bright, funny, to a few serious characters. With the exception of a few almost every character has moments that will make you laugh and/or be amazed. Even some that seem like minor side characters, end up being important in some way. There is someone in the series for everyone to like and it is very easy to find a new favorite character in Kill La Kill. Development is not much of an issue as every single character has an in your face personality and it is easy to get to know them from the beginning. While they aren't too deep there is a lot of substance there and you just cant but help to love the cast.

Overall Feelings
I loved watching Kill La Kill. It was a refreshing series that brought me so many moments of laughter and pure joy. I constantly found myself saying wow or laughing my ass off at the variety of crazy scenes in the show. Also, I couldn't help but root for the wonderful cast of characters and their ranges of personalities. With smooth, fun animation and a fitting soundtrack, Kill La Kill was an absolute pleasure to watch. I would easily recommend it to friends and just as easily re-watch it with them. My only complaints, and this is just nit picking really, are the overused transformation scene, somewhat played out songs, and borderline overboard fanservice. But other than that if you haven't yet start watching Kill La Kill. You will not be disappointed and you will surely enjoy yourself. Thanks for reading, hope this helped!
