Kill la kill. Essentially an entire story based around clothing or the lack thereof. At first glance this sounds like a horrible plot to some crappy ecchi story you find in the back room of your local movie rental place. But the fact that Kill la Kill has this premise and yet rises above and beyond the stereotype is something to be admired.

Story- 9/10 - As noted, this story follows Ryuuko Matoi and her journey of revenge, with clothing that allows people to have special powers. The action aspect of this series is non-stop, fighting scenes with blood gushing from severed limbs like old faithful happen at least once every episode or two. To counter act this blood bath is an immature but surprisingly funny comedy aspect that interjects in the story at the most random and hilarious times. However, with all of these themes we still haven't looked at the most amazing part of this story. Kill la kill is an over the top-ecchi-violent-comedy that manages to be "tastefully distasteful." The story has deep moments of friendship, family, and overcoming adversity that truly gets the audience to dig deep into the meaning. Literally the only personal problem I had with the story is the ecchi element, but that is just a personal preference.

Art/Sound - 9/10 - I hate to be one of those reviewers that gives every aspect of a show a high rating just because I liked it, but kill la kill is just this deserving. The artwork in this series is unique because it is very modern, but still gives tribute to classic anime styling. The CG elements weren't too obvious and the deep contrasts of coloring and scene styles allowed a very pleasant visual experience. The sound of this series was very unique as well. With emotion inciting background music for battle scenes, to great ops and endings, I thought the sound was very appropriate and enjoyable.

Character - 10/10 - Kill la Kill has everything a story needs for good characters. A lead protagonist that goes through an amazing amount of development and struggles. Villains that are so good at being sinister you can't decide to cheer for them or against them. Supporting characters that make you laugh and make you cry. Truly if nothing else is to be understood about Kill la Kill know this, you won't find a cast of characters this complementary but once every decade.

Enjoyment - 8/10
Overall - 9/10 - Kill la Kill should just be commended on how incredible it was for the writers to create such a great story with such a dumb plot idea. I haven't been this blown away since I first saw the movie "fight club." Regardless of your personal tastes I think kill la kill has something for everyone, an enjoyable high octane plot with lovable (and delightfully detestable) characters. I wouldn't recommend this for younger viewers, but for anyone else who has the slightest inkling to watch this, I promise you won't regret it.
